SRS BZNSS - Portrait of a Young Man as The Artist — LiveJournal
I am half-heartedly considering buying a car. You know, having a car that I ENJOY. My rental last week made me realize how indifferent I am to my current vehicle.
Give me your wisdom!

Which is obviously the best choice for me?

Mini Cooper

Which Hybrid if you chose it above

Any particular reason for your choice?

'cept the Prius gets WAY better gas mileage.

Scion! It has personality to go along with its good gas mileage.

The questions are:

1. How much do you want to spend?
2. Two seats or four?
2a. If four, do you want them for cargo space or should people actually be able to sit in them?
3. Fancy toys or bare bones?
4. How cool should you look while driving?
5. New or used?
6. How big do you want the car to be?
7. How much cargo space do you need?

1. Less than 25,000
2. Two.
2a. I care more about cargo than hauling people. :)
3. I would love blue-tooth integration and an iPod dock. Security system nice too.
4. I'm pretty vain and like flashy items.
5. Either.
6. Smaller than my current vehicle.
7. Enough for groceries and a suitcase or two.

The Smartcars always make me nervous when I see them on the highway. I'd love to try driving one, though.

Not too keen on the Prius myself, but somehow a Civic Hybrid seems a wee... common? But again - I've never driven any of the above. And enjoying how it feels and drives is #1 after you have your choices.

Yeah, all the safety data on them is.. scary.

I like our civic hybrid, though you can get a conversion on the prius to let it go the 1st 100 miles on electric charge.

The Volt might be a good things to wait for.

Alternatively, may I suggest getting a Saturn before they become antiques. Or a Saab.

Also, I hear you can get 2 for 1 pimped out Explorers. Have you considered the merits of LED spinners?

Does this mean you aren't getting a house? Perhaps you should get an RV and kill 2 birds with one stone?

I will NOT drive my house to work.

I'm surprised I'm the only one voting Prius in the hybrid poll. Having driven both Priuses and Civic hybrids (a la Community Car), I absolutely LOVED the Prius. They have a lot of smart design features I liked, as well as being roomy inside but compact outside. I urge you to drive on. The civic didn't get as good gas mileage and felt cramped and poorly designed in terms of internal structure, especially as a somewhat tall person.

I have driven a Prius and enjoyed it except when I had to merge onto a highway. They're awfully expensive, which is my primary issue with it. But, yes, the feature set is really exciting. And the 2010 Prius goes on sale tomorrow. So.. Maybe?

I heard the new battery design will get upwards of 80 mpg. Don't know when its coming out, but I would be all about that bandwagon, might be worth waiting for.
