I had to sit through a 15 minutes lecture today on how my life would be better if I used twitter, from a guest who simply would not go away.

Ok. The antagonistic way you present the comment suggests you don't like Twitter. That's cool, it isn't for everyone.
I think it's rather fun though. It's like LJ turbo.

Actually, I have no antagonism towards Twitter. I don't care to use it, but I don't find its existance or use by others to stir any particular emotion in me.

My atagonism was towards the guest, who seems to think I had nothing better to do than make conversation with him, and who seemed to be truly convinced my life would acutally be improved by Twitter's use, that I was some how missing some vital element of the pursuit of happiness by not using it. That's the part which kind of floored me.

He also seemed to think I should have known that when he said "What is the name of the steak house next to Jury's Hotel" (and I told him) he didn't actually mean the steak house next to Jury's Hotel, he meant some other steak house entirely that isn't next to Jury's Hotel. But it's ok, he found it anyway, so it all turned out in the end, but now I know for future reference.

The joys of customer service.

Are you working in hotels now?

Yeah, I've been working on and off in hotels since I was at Beloit. My master's degree hasn't done me a whole lot of good.

I don't envy you. I've definitely had my fill of them.
