The end is really fucking nigh.
Along with the rest of LJ, I'm preparing for the end via LJ Archive in the event that SUP implodes or blah blah blah. (Not really)

hellocthulhu pointed out that Lj Archive has neat little plug-ins to analyze you and your LJ.
Regressive Imagery Analysis: how often do I post about various topics or concepts.

In 2004, I decided to write two poems a day in my LJ for 50 days and learn Photoshop. This began the end for your friend's list by me:

Interesting stuff.
Also: sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex. There, that's probably good for a quarter a percent or so.

Lastly? Coleman suing over race results. I'm not surprised, a little sad, but it is fair as Franken sued already too.

did you know that the sky is falling as well?

OH! and coca-cols is a good form of contraception.

I KNOW.

I'm neither actively worried nor scared that Lj would vanish but I have a backup plan. If LJ goes, I no longer have reason not to finish my problog and website. :D

You forgot sex to the sex to the sex.

You're the second person that has mentioned LJ Archive for some reason or another. To be frank, I'm questioning if I should move to blogspot eventually.
abmann From: abmann Date: January 7th, 2009 02:35 pm (UTC) (Link)
Eh? If it dies, I'm moving to my WordPress blog and will likely link it to some other place depending on where other people go.

BUT. No one does comments like LJ. That would suck to deal with on other sites.

LJ archive is a neat little utility.

I didn't know you had a wordpress blog.

...until NOW!

Someone also tried to push me to Vox, harping on its more picture-friendly interface, but I dunno. Blogspot I'd switch to if I ever felt erudite enough to exhibit my knowledge to anyone in a splay of unembarrassed rambling just because I know a lot more people on it than anywhere else.

Sort of have a WP blog. abmann.net/deardiary I'd expand that site into something interesting.
zesty_pinto From: zesty_pinto Date: January 7th, 2009 03:11 pm (UTC) (Link)
Hah, now that you mention it, one of my other flist photographer-types also abuses that site. Is it easier to post photos there or is it the community that encourages you to use it?

I've not explored it really well. I actually prefer to post entries via Flickr. I'll likely refine my Flickr usage and link that into my photo blog and other various tools. I HATE WordPress photo management plug ins. So terrible. I haven't looked at the Flickr-WordPress plugins that exist yet though.

The problem I really have is decideing how to handle content. A real pro photo blog shouldn't contain random crap, this entry for example, but I really like this outlet for my weirdness. Would the solution to be multiple blogs or just port this whole thing to WP?

For the former, it's probably more pure and more work. The latter would likely be taken less seriously and ultimately be less professional.

Since everything under the sun now has its own blog, it would make sense to have more than one. Having a blog just for photos seems kind of ludicrous though; I mean, aren't there portfolio sites for that? Maybe if it was a blog on things like, say, test results or experimentation in processes.
abmann From: abmann Date: January 7th, 2009 03:24 pm (UTC) (Link)
I'd use the photo blog as an avenue for print sales, adding a Paypal button to each post for the photo.

I suppose for photo exploration or experimentation, I'd likely duplicate posts. I'd want those in both places.

BLOGGING IS HARD.

A1) The end of lj would mean the end of our list-based relationship.
B2) I have no problem with Coleman suing and think it's all arbitrary at this point. The statistical significance of the results are less than the margin of error for counting. If we put all the results into a simulated counting system it would keep generating different winners.
C3) In that cold northern land, they settle things with a coin toss. I think that's what they should do in this case.
D4) I'm looking into this achieve tool of which you speak.
abmann From: abmann Date: January 7th, 2009 03:03 pm (UTC) (Link)
Purple) True. We may have to start texting lists to each other.
Monkey) I think Ficus actually won but no one wants to admit it.
Dishwasher) I think darkskywatcher should choose the senator.
Fish) I think you mean archive unless you've suddenly decide to, like, do something with your college degree.

Harold) Hmm...I never thought of making your cell phone my personal twitter service. I should look into unlimited msg plans.
Poop) Election laws and states are stupid.
Mexican) Agreed.
Seabass Ceviche) Sometimes my fingers type things the ghosts tell me to. I'm not really sure how I'd go about using my college degree, even if I wanted to.
abmann From: abmann Date: January 7th, 2009 03:36 pm (UTC) (Link)
Kumar) I have 1500 messages a month now. Woo!
Baby) On the whole or state election law? Should we defer to our alien overlords during election season?
Mexican) Ok
I'll raise you three quid) Stop eating pastrami before bed time.
nathan_lounge From: nathan_lounge Date: January 7th, 2009 04:15 pm (UTC) (Link)
Some A-rab country) Gross. I kicked my 200 msg/month plan to the curb when I realized I wasn't utilizing it. Now I pay per and honestly have saved money even with the limited messaging I do.
Mmmmm) I think States and States rights are total BS. Election law in America is also 90% Bull Poopy as well. Mostly I don't ever advocate a winner takes all system. 49.99999% of the people should never be disenfranchised in a democracy.
Mmmmmmm Mexican) Alright then.
Mmmmmm Squid) The day I stop eating a pastrami sandwich with extra spicy mustard in bed before lights out is the day I lay down my guns and start wearing one of those commie hats with the fur lining. By-golly!

LJ Archive seems to require both Windows and the .net framework. I seem to have neither of those right now.

I guess I'll just use LogJam instead.
