I upgraded. Excited slash curious for the VR lens.
Actually, I'm most excited for the VR and bitchin' low-light performance. Clear, sharp photos indoors.

Okay, so what do you do to take pictures like that? Do they come out of the camera that way, or is Photoshop involved?

Little bit of both. :)

Here's the original:

You can see that the building is underexposed so I could get the detail in the sky. On its own, the photo is kind of blah due to lighting restrictions. In Aperture (Apple's answer to Photoshop/Lightroom) I lightened the shadows a little, cropped the photo, added the lomo effects (vignette and lightened center) and cross-processed it.

It sounds like a lot but it took about 10 minutes.

I could have fixed the exposure issues with a flash but I rarely have it with me. Plus, I know I can fix minor exposure annoyances in post.
