I haven't taken a photo in weeks. Months? I don't think I even know.
I have zero motivation. I think my inspiration may be reaching negatives.

No purpose? No nothing.
Meh.

Maybe I should bust out the Zorkii. Or hibernate.

maybe you need a new subject? :) fascinating new locale?

don't push it, though!

New locale would help. I don't know where else to go in this town.

Your icon looks like it could be the poster for the next silent hill game.

Your post sounds like something I would pen.

Why are you trying to cop my angsty intellectual goth wrap?

Though, if you want, we could get together and write poems about how life is full of pain.

I'm trying to find a good default icon. I haven't liked any of mine recently.

This one makes me sad. You should make a happier one. Use animaniac captures.

You're mom's an animaniac.

While that's true, I'm not sure what it has to do with my point.

YOUR MOM HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH MY POINT.

Or, perhaps the lack of photo initiative is from your intense work on other things, like your physical fitness.

Aren't you supposed to get more energy when you exercise regularly?
zesty_pinto From: zesty_pinto Date: December 8th, 2008 02:32 pm (UTC) (Link)
Only after your body's become accustomed to it. Not to mention the fact that it still eats up time on your clock and if you're working intensely on it, it also eats into your mental faculties as well.

Clearly I should be photographing other gym people.

Spending so much time exercising can take its toll on other things. Then consider that you have multiple people to date and a demanding job and it makes sense that you might have less time and inclination to express yourself with photo.

I find it helps me to try and do at least one art thing every day, even if it's just organizing a drawer or putting my markers away. It keeps you in that headspace without overly pressuring yourself to MAKE ART NOW OR DIE.

It's natural for it to ebb and flow. It will come back. In the meantime just try to think about what interests you, what directions interest you. Look around online for images you like, make yourself an inspiration folder. That's why I always have so much stuff for stolen posts, I'm constantly stealing because knowing my preferences gives me insight into what things I want to incorporate into my work.

But don't force yourself to do it. There's a big difference between quitting and stopping. Every artist needs to stop sometimes and recharge their batteries. It's when that happens that you try something new and find great new direction for your art.

But I want it all now!

I think I need to swap out photo blogs and find some new views on Flickr. All the photo blogs are so similar these days it's annoying. And commercial. OMG the advertising disguised as technique posts are the worst.

I'm liking the idea of breaking out the manual camera in the snow. there's something invigorating about churning through a roll of film with no idea what the results are. :)

Don't we all.

I say go with your gut, go play in the snow and see what happens. Maybe you'll find some new inspiration.
