Bleh. Yesterday was not a good run day. I was still sore from Saturday's weight training session and was tired from insufficient calories all day. I made it a mile in a half before my shin muscle started hurting and had to stop. Walked two laps, ran half a mile, walked two laps from further muscle pain, ran another three before I gave up entirely and walked the remainder.

It was an interesting mental battle to allow myself to walk as much as I did. I really didn't want to but didn't want to injure myself. I'd not experienced pain like that in my lower legs before. I think from tiredness and soreness threw off my gait among other things.

On the plus, I think I did that first mile in less than 10 minutes. I think my ideal mile time is sub 8 minutes. I'm not sure if I should work for distance or speed first. maybe hit 50 miles total before I try to decrease my mile time. Focusing on speed would prolong reaching that first 50mile mark.

Any runners out there have thoughts? Better to get the distance before the pace? Focus on one? Do both?
