After my first 5 miler

So, I've been running regularly for what? A week? I decided that today since I didn't go to market that I'd go out and see if I could run 5 miles. Up to this point, running 3 miles has been relatively difficult.

I learned that I CAN run 5 miles in one go and that running anywhere near where I live is just evil.
Here's the elevation chart:

Um? Ow. I did walk a little after the really evil hills which was probably a really good thing. I was more surprised that I didn't walk until after about 2.5 miles after the first hill on PD.

Otherwise, the run was gorgeous. Woods Road is lovely and the trees are all different colors. Drivers in Hwy M were very respectful, getting as close to the median as they could, and other runners along the way gave me the thumbs up. It was.. well. really a lovely run.

Yeah, I think I can keep doing this. Maybe not this specific run again for a long, long while. Maybe I'll try it again in a few months to see if I can make it with fewer stops. Damn if I'm not pleased with myself right now.

I'ma go collapse, shower, eat. Not necessarily in that order!

Last run time: 90 minutes
Last run distance: 5.7 mile

Next milestone: 50 miles

Current weight: 194.4

I'm flabby and only moderately in shape. I bet you could manage something similar.

I'm jealous of your ability to run. It always seems like such gratifying exercise and I don't doubt I have the mental stamina for it, it's just the flat feet make it agony after about half a mile. : ( But I guess that's okay.

You're pretty damn badass at exercise, Mr. Will.

Have you ever tried it for for couple days? I hear it gets easier after a few runs plus you build up stamina fairly quickly when you run outside.

Or you could hit up what brdgt and antarcticlust were doing with the Couch to 5K program.

Lord, it took the last three and a half years to get to a point where any new exercise didn't kick me in the face. :/

Are you guys going to eat before game tonight?

It's not about stamina, I have stamina out the yin-yang. I have flat feet.

When I was younger and didn't have orthodics this led to crippling pain whenever I tried to walk more than 1/4 mile or so. Now that I have orthodics I can walk pretty comfortably, but running causes massive discomfort that's beyond what I'm willing to endure.

That and I have shit knees and various doctors have told me straight out that running is not a good idea for me. So nope. : (

But that's okay because I have weights and eillipticals and swimming and walking and etc. I've been working out consistently for three years too, and I can generally do new things without a problem, it's just that running isn't in the cards.

We can eat first unless you don't want us to.

I was considering ordering dinner. I have a headache that won't go away and cooking sounds too arduous. I'll see what Fox thinks.

I could contribute about $20 if that was the case.

Actually, I think we're just going to eat something here quick. But it's cool if you guys want to order stuff or whatever. : )

I'm starting to have fun. I just wouldn't recommend running your fourth run, first 5 mile run, or what ever with that many elevation changes.

Also note I didn't go out today. :)
