Satisfaction
This is really, really satisfying. First, a good number of cool shots. Second, reminds me that I can ise a manual camera. :) Getting the right framing on the Zorkii is really hard though.

Photos
Larger and you can see alyska, shortcakeness, lady_fox and not_a_girl in the photos.

I forgot how colorful the cross processed fujifilm slide film was too. Gotta get some of that again.

Hey so um...

You take pictures. And I'm getting married. In November or the first week in December. Is taking pictures of a wedding something you might be interested in doing? If scheduling works out and all. I trust you to take interesting shots that don't make me look like a sorority girl.

What sort of package were you thinking? I have thought about wedding photography and have an idea of what I'd charge based on my skill, comfort and prices of other photographers in town.

I get the feeling that you know a WHOLE lot more about this than I do. I haven't even started looking at what's normal. Give me a couple choices?

Did you get the Velvia/Superia stuff? I LOVED that when I had a manual. In fact, as soon as my dad gives me his old Minolta, I'm totally going to get a roll.

There's something so satisfying about the process of shooting film to me, and the wait for the developed pictures is part of that.

I hate the waiting part. Also, I am daunted at the scanning part too. I wonder if Camera Co. will scan the photos for me.

I believe the film I used in the SuperSampler was Velvia. Hmm... now I'm not sure. It's whatever Camera Co stocks in slide film, which isn't much. I tend to buy weirder film at Adorama.com. I have some ectachrome in.. shoot.. I think it is in the SuperSampler right now. I need to finish that roll too.

Man, I'm bad at finishing film.

You can often get a CD of your images along with your prints, so they should do that for you, I'd think.

I sort of think of film versus digital (which I was slow to come around to) as different mediums, with different benefits and different purposes. Personally, I never edit my digital photos because it's not part of my aesthetic process, though I recognize the beautiful work others do. I almost think of my slide photos as my "art" photos, and digital as convenience photos - vacation, everyday stuff, etc.

I've really, really wanted to get a Polaroid lately!

I hear someone finally bought the Polaroid film license so you can get the film again. You can pick up a camera super cheap at an antiques store. I know I've seen many at the antiques mall in Columbus. There may be some at the mall on Odana - the one across the street from Chuck E. Cheese's.

I'm not sure what I think of film. I shoot film almost exclusively for the challenge, to keep my skills sharp for properly selecting exposure settings. I don't know what to do with the pictures now. :\

Fill albums and put them on your coffee tables! Frame them! Make art with them! Have you been to Anthology? The have some really cool collages made from 1x1 squares cut from photos, with a little space in between each like grout on a tile mosaic. They're beautiful.

Attaboy, I knew you could use up all that manual film and take the reins of a manual lens.

I'm sad that the Zorkii seems to have a less contrasty lens. Some of my BnW shots were really muted.

The lens on the SuperSampler is impressively contrasty.

Hmm.. maybe it's the film more than the lens.

It could be. Maybe you could test out a polarizer and see if that helps any?

i don't even remember that... :)
