Nifty site on how to travel with a single carry-on bag and still have everything you could need. Neat stuff.

I generally travel with way too much stuff. I wish I had a lighter travel laptop too for work. That would be nice. Mmm... MacBook Air.

Oh, when that came through my reader last night I totally thought about you.

Oh, through GoogleReader, I think it was a lifehacker post, but not sure. That was featured on one of the blogs I follow yesterday.

I need a lighter religion. To go to mass, I need to carry the following:

* Chalice
* Paten
* Bowl for water
* Thurible/incense burner
* Bell
* Altar Cloth
* corporal
* purificator
* Cruets for water and wine
* 4 colored candles or candle holders
* White candle
* lighter
* Lectionary
* Copy of the Liturgy
* enough copies or Missalettes for the congregants
* wine or port
* communion wafers
* your vestments

It fills a 30 gallon plastic tote. I'm finally starting to work on specialized carrier for all of it, but it's still gonna be a bigish box/bag.

What if you dehydrated all of it. Just add holy water!

No need to simply dehydrate!

There are many many ways to desiccate religious icons.

Just ask me how!

It just takes practice.

Yes and the proprietor of said site has more than I. I just don't like checking a bag and still have as heavy bag with me. Part of the problem is that I carry too much camera gear now but that my laptop is heavy. Start with a 6 pound bag and ten add that and travel can be uncomfortable.

Ok, well, packing heavy is different from packing "too much," especially when the "too much" is camera gear and not, for example, shoes.

The lap top problem can only be solved by getting a lighter one -- which may or may not be something you can convince your company of. However, my own laptop is kind of heavy and I use one of the lap top carrier back packs -- more comfy than an over the shoulder bag. That might be somthing to think on?

For the camera gear, that's personal priority -- maybe it's time to look into new, lighter, smaller camera gear that you take specifically when you're traveling on business trips? I imagine when you're on vacation you will want your good stuff, but when you just want it along to fill your non-business hours, maybe less is more in this case?

Dunno. Just some thoughts.

You need to figure out how to only carry what you can fit inside a rubber bag in your stomach. That's the way the pros do it. Have you considered just buying new stuff everywhere you go?

I worked with the airlines for awhile and I never will check luggage again.
