right now, none. but that's because i borrowed the lens from school. it's a sigma, and unfortunately, has gotten a little soft in the year and a half it's been in service at the photo program.

i'd love a nice wide angle, but haven't found one (that wont cost me $1600+).

Both of my sigma lenses are less than that. The 10-20mm is $500 at Amazon and the 4.5mm is $900. They come in Canon flavors.

Is a lens used by any number of students doing any number of interesting things indicative of lens performance and quality when used by a single person who only need worry about kitty hair?

yes but after playing with the sigmas from MATC, and seeing the issues we've had with them, i tend to more eyeball the canons straight up.
