Custom painting is as it sounds and likely one of the first things off the list. Painting the kitchen would be faster were they to do it before cabinetry was in place, ditto the living room if we get shelving adn a fireplace installed.

Bedrooms would be better to do on our own, I suspect. But we included it to get an idea of cost. Labor may be minimal because they paint the entire house anyway one of 4 colors you choose; we may just need to pay for the paint itself.

I think I prefer flat top electric to gas for ease of maintenance and cleaning. But I believe they upgrade the ventilation if you get a gas stove.

Mm.. I so want a fry alcove next to the stove. So expensive.

The line of home frying units avalible to the public these days are really good actually. Unless you want to deep fry a turkey, you can own a relatively inexpensive one that will meet all of your needs and take up about the same amount of room as a rice cooker. I've been pricing them lately. The really nice thing is that some have self-filtering or easily cleanable systems so you can reuse the oil for months without having to change it. Similarly, they cap off so your house doesn't smell like a fast food restaurant when you're not using it.

You should look at the figures on gas v. electric as far as energy consumption. Especially in tandem with your chosen heating methods. I'm pretty sure gas is almost always more energy efficient over time. But it depends on a lot of local conditions. Also! Many commercially rated stoves these days have pincher valves that let you control gas flow. Which means you can set up your burner top to have like 3 relatively low-flame normal burners and one "super-jet" that will pump out the gas like whoa. The purpose being that it gives you the heat you need to stir fry or do other asian applications without actually changing your gas-flow control into the house. Sometimes you just need that blast of heat.

You're going to paint boobs on your bedroom wall, aren't you?

What fry models are best?

Not boobs, just boob. One really big one in the ceiling tray in the master suit.

That's classy.

I'll get back to you on fry stuff. I need to finish these stacks of papers I'm working on and be out the door in 30 minutes.

Only if I get a giant penis on the bathroom door.
