First in-depth Nikon D3 review
http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews_nikon_d3.php

Well. That sounds like a pretty nice camera! $5,000 is a little much. Honestly? If I'm going to spend that much on a camera, I'm going to buy a Leica M8 which is likely the dumbest thing to do because I own Nikon glass.

The D3 is likely more camera than I'll ever need. The D300, with its 6400 ISO is pretty appealing!

first off, A+ mood theme

secondly, my WORD that is a gorgeous camera. with the leica you know you're in for it 'cause there's no mention of a price anywhere. i assume it's lodged in the downloads :D

i need a new camera right away (my first entry into digital photography is starting to die D:) , and i absolutely love photography but i have a bit of an issue. it's hard to find a camera i'm comfortable using with one hand ): especially in the slr field. it's frustrating as hell. ):

Yeah, the Leica is $6k. The optics are considered the best in th world though. They cameras are apparently magnificent for black and white to because they're especially sensitive to infrared wavelengths due to sensor construction.

I like it best for the compact nature and how quite it is. Plus, since it's designed as a rangefinder camera, there's no mirror in it. No mirror means no mirror slap which means sharper images and a larger range of slow shutter speeds where yu still get sharp images. I actually use a film rangefinder regularly now, especially when I'll be in low light.

I only have one hand and have had zero issues with my Nikon. More DSLRs are great for autofocus so you just use your second hand for stabilization; or, in my case, I use my elbow to stabilize.

I use a Leica brand something something to get pics of arc tube features and cracks.
It's pretty sweet.

They make microscopes and other optics. They're pretty awesome.

$6k is a little pricey though. I wish they'd upgrade their sensor some.

I wouldn't remain a kept man to Nikon if I had access to Leica either; let's just face it, it's a company with history and quality etched into every stroke of its name. It's the camera equivalent of those Tourneau catalogs you may find with watches you can trade for a fully-loaded luxury sedan.

Not saying Nikon is garbage or anything, but got to give respect where respect is due. Heck, I respect the Canon label as well since they're good with digital translation (remember, I deal with print shop crap and every tech I've worked with says that their copiers are pristine in quality).
