Know what I hate? Scheduled Late Work nights. I'm supposed to be here until 8pm. I'm not overloaded with work. Am I supposed to be? I feel like I have to stay. After tonight I'll have nothing to do. The deadline is the 26th. Just under two weeks.

Again, I ask, why do I feel compeled to stay when I don't need to?

Why wants this job to devour my life???

Current Mood: annoyed annoyed

Yes, but don't they feed you pizza?

I've worked ten-hour days this whole week, and will for the rest of the week, and I don't get free dinners.

I don't understand this at all. Why are you working so much? o_O
Is this standard?

You are making me feel guilty.

We've been assaulted with a bunch of complex RFPs all at once-- and most of them have unusually short deadlines. We can't plan our deadlines like the rest of the company. This is just one of those unexpected periods of insane workloads, as occasionally happens. There's nothing to do but settle in and write until nightfall.

But since my team is so independent, we have no "taem work nights", and everyone sets their own hours. So ordering pizza for everyone is pretty unusual here. Therefore I covet your pizza.

"taem work nights" You making fun of my spelling, lassie?

So it's more function of chance for you rather than standards.

I'm feeling somewhat less guilty now. :|

The standards are that we will work that hard when chance forces us to. In fact, I somewhat envy the sense of camaraderie that you have with these scheduled late nights-- it's every RFPer for himself here.

When I interviewed, they said that the weekly expectation for this position was about 45 hours-- one of the lightest in the company.

And it was just a typo.
