And how do you super hard drive powers?
tandu From: tandu Date: April 11th, 2007 05:02 pm (UTC) (Link)
It draws power from the PS2 port, so it might not work on a laptop. I have to check my laptop and make sure I HAVE a PS2 port. Might have to find another enclosure.

I can have it here in 3 days. (UPS Ground).

Total will be: $143.90

Whoa.. Crazy... I know my MacBook doesn't have a PS2 port. That won't work. :(

Is there a USB only enclosure? I don't really care about extra plugs. Eventually this is going to be a wireless drive sitting on my Airport base station.

Also, does your dealer have USB splitters?

I found a USB only powered one, same price. It's an IDE drive, that OK?

I have a USB splitter I'm not using, that you can have if you want it. It's USB 1.0, though. Do you need 2.0?

I'm not sure the implications of an IDE drive. Will that make a difference since it's going into an enclosure anyway, which will be hooked into my MacBook?

Crap, it's a 2.5" enclosure, not gonna work for the 3.5" drive.

All the 3.5" enclosures are $40+ Bumps the price by $20

Mac's usually use SCSI drives, so I'm not sure if an IDE drive will have the right drivers to run on a Mac. It's a hardware issue, and I'm not sure if the Mac OS will be able to translate/handle it.

I found an enclosure at another place, but it takes an external power adapter. That OK?

Hmm. So, my current external hard drive is a 3.5in that I pulled out of my old PC. It is formatted for Windows and my Mac has no troubles reading and writing data to it. I'm guessing I'll be OK even though I'm unsure if it is an IDE drive.

If not, I can try to sell and/or return it.

I'm fine with an external power adapter. :) It's probably similar to my current one.

When can I get you the money? It'll have to be cash as my money Market doesn't all me to write checks less than 250.
