Bad at vacation
I"ve been up for 45 minutes and I've:
Emptied and loaded the dishwasher.
Emptied cat boxes.
Swept and mopped the kitchen
Washed the end tables.
Started a load of laundry.
Vacuumed the living room.

I'm good at vacation, right?
Later today I'm going to Barriques to takle House of Leaves again.

I think I was the one who turned you & Flutterby on to notpron. How far have you guys gotten? When I started, I could only get to level 4 or 5 and had to stop because I wanted to keep what little hair I had left on my head after pulling out most of it trying to figure out the clues. I still have the links on my browser though - hoping to pick it up again sometime.

We have to see and try the new stuff. If the new stuff isn't going to destroy our backs, we're happy to lend your our couch. We'd want it back in three years when we buy a house though. :)

Well, I appreciate that - though, I think it probably would be better if you kept it in storage in that case. It would have 3 more years of wear on it & you might not want it back. Not saying that I'd destroy it, but, it's probably better you keep it unused.

eh? We don't mind use... and if it will help you save money up for a truly happy couch that you really want, we're perfectly happy to put it to some USE rather than let it sit.

*hug*

Epic wants to schedule first round of phone interviews with me next week. The problem is the next week part where I'm working every day.

I also need to figure out a way to parlay "my friend told me to" into an acceptable reason for applying.
abmann From: abmann Date: March 30th, 2007 07:13 pm (UTC) (Link)
Seriously? You applied because I wanted you to? I'm flattered and pissed. Why did you send me your resume?
nathan_lounge From: nathan_lounge Date: April 1st, 2007 03:07 pm (UTC) (Link)
I applied because the point of everything you said is that it would be good for me. I trust you to understand me well enough to make that kind of statement in earnest. It's not quite the same as our "you should eat that" relationship. What I need to figure out is how to reformulate all the reasons you gave to me about why epic would be a good place for me to work into my own words and ideas. Essentially what I need to convey is not, I need a change of career (which is what's at stake), but that Will described to me a place that will help me to meet the essence of all of my career goals, so I am willing to go forward with Epic Systems specifically.

Make sense?
abmann From: abmann Date: April 1st, 2007 03:31 pm (UTC) (Link)
Yeah. That makes much more sense. The previous statement sounded like you applied only because I asked.

Wanting a change of career isn't necessarily a bad thing, at least part of what you want. What it seems you really need is to define your career goals explicitly and relate that to the description I gave of the work and environment.

Epic will ask a lot from you It requires you to be self-sufficient, motivated, dedicated, trustworthy and capable - all things you are and want from a job. This job gives you the challenge of autonomy with the interest of individualized experiences per customer installation. It is a constantly changing job that will keep you adapting and interested.
