Bonuses. - Portrait of a Young Man as The Artist — LiveJournal
We saw some awesome apartments last night. They're located here. The current deals on it are nuts. First and foremost, one month free. But ALSO, no pet rent, no pet deposit, <25% security deposit, fireplaces, pool, jacuzzi, fitness center. On top of these bonuses and amenities they offer an extra discount and bonus to Epic employees. So it sounds like we could two months free. Two. Crazy. So. That seems pretty hardcore and would allow us to move in May as we want. :)

Two months.

The worst part about the none I preferred is that it was second floor. That means people living atop us. Eh? Minor issue, I suppose.

In other news, Getting Things Done continues to kick ass. I've stopped thinking about a whole bunch of things and have been really productive the last few days. The biggest problem I'm currently having is that I can't always hear my Palm when a reminder happens. It's hard to completely trust a system that you can't always hear. I set all my reminders to also vibrate to see if that helps. But it really pisses me off that the sound levels I associated to messaging and reminders does not increase or decrease with the ringer volume as controlled on the side on my Treo. Grr. Grrrr.

Hi! How're you?

Not bad! And close to Target. That would be a bonus for me :P

I'm kinda sad that it isn't as close to a grocer as currently. However, it will be super easy to carpool to work and gym with lady_fox which is awesome.

Isn't there a Copps there with Target?

Yes. Its still not as close. Woodman's is a 5 minute walk from where we currently live.

It's not a do-your-weekly-shopping sort of place, but isn't that near Brennan's? Good cheese, produce and wine - what more can you really ask for? ;)

They also make their own frozen pizza. :)

I'm finding more that I use reminders for things like, "Quit farting around and get to my meeting RIGHT NOW" and less of the "hey! You forgot to do something!"

I rely on my weekly review as much as the air I breathe. I don't think DA emphasizes enough the importance of the weekly review. It's part system-grooming but also part forward-looking.

this guy's a little overboard, but helps with some additional structure with weekly reviews.

Yeah, I'm just now hitting the part in the book where you're supposed to go through and organize everything. I'm torn between reading everything and actually trying any of it. The former seems like spoiling a good ending and the latter seems wasteful since we'll be moving relatively soon. Bleh.

I think I'll finish the book. It actually counts as work time, continuing management education.

GTD has replaced Seven Habits of Highly Effective People as the company's required reading for all new hires. ;)

Shit really? When Epic brings in DA for a lecture, will you sneak me in please? Pretty pretty pretty please?
abmann From: abmann Date: March 23rd, 2007 02:59 pm (UTC) (Link)
I'm not sure if Epic specifically hires him. However, if he regularly tours we'll definitely send people to his seminars.

Having someone live on top of you isn't always bad. Wade is super respectful of us...

You complain about his noise every time we come over!

The question you should be asking yourself is "Do any of these places have an appropriately outfitted kitchen for Nathan?"
lady_fox From: lady_fox Date: March 23rd, 2007 10:27 pm (UTC) (Link)
both of the ones we're considering have decent kitchen stuffs.. the one he linked to has a smaller kitchen space, and less counter, but a nifty island.

But they really need gas heated appliances and industrial exhaust ports.

Plus a built in inverse flat top and space for his new floor mixer.
lady_fox From: lady_fox Date: March 24th, 2007 01:41 pm (UTC) (Link)
Yes, well... Once we buy a place, we'll have you come in and help us re-do the kitchen. How's that sound?

nathan_lounge From: nathan_lounge Date: March 26th, 2007 08:12 am (UTC) (Link)
I will take that as full consent to have my way with any kitchen that you either own or are in the process of owning including but not limited to beefing up your electrical installation in order to accommodate industrial freezing units, pulling in embedded gas lines, internal incendiary disposal, and industrial exhaust ports.

By the time I'm done, you'll be able to butcher an elephant in your new house.

Sounds good.

Oh man, the kitchen in our new place has such sexy equipment. I wish they were gas though. With a pull crank.

I've always wondered what elephant tasted like...

Just out of curiousity, because I've never met you:

Do you often NEED to butcher an elephant in your house?

I'm just sayin', that'd be something to see.
