Wisdom teeth are coming out first thing in the morning Tuesday. All four at once.
I'm going under general anesthesia because they don't like people awake when they're doing all four. That's fine by me.

Monday night, I'm buying a gallon of chocolate-marshmallow ice cream. :) and de-shelled edamame for ice packs.

I'll save you from the whining I want to do right now over photography. Instead, I'll inform you that Fox's Mom bought me the Nikon SB-800. That's the bad-ass flash.

Isn't that ice cream called Rocky Road?

Also, frozen edamame? Doesn't the stuff smell vile?

Nope. Rocky road has peanuts. Chocolate marshmallow hides no legumes of doom.
Edamame is yummy for all the senses!

How can you hate the beloved peanut? Are you allergic?

I love peanuts. However, sharp foods after oral surgery generally does bad things for all involved.

Touche. Just the buttery version of it for you, then.

The surgery itself is easy peasy, nothing to worry about there. Unless you keep your evil plans in your wisdom teeth that is.

For after the weirdest, but most successful pain reliever for me was swishing saltwater around in my mouth. I have no idea why that works, but it does. I refused to believe it would, and it did, so I'm counting out psychological. And for me, using straws was right out, creating the pressure needed to use it just caused pain. And oh god, whatever you do, hot soup right after is a terrible idea, no matter how much you want it.

I'm not over-worried about the surgery. Mostly the anesthetic. I've never had problems in the past, and I'm pretty hearty. Just some lingering concern mostly since I don't know the docs too well.

No straws. Just spoons, edamame ice packs and salt water. When I had mouth surgery before to remove a tooth that a fell on (it got jammed back into my gum) salt water did really well to keep the stitches and incisions clean.

There's no way I'm putting any effort into feeding myself for those two days.
Not sure what to do about food at work though.

General anethesia is nasty business. When I had my wisdom teeth out I was sick as a dog, and was miserable for about three hours before I managed to throw the heck up and fall asleep. After that I was better.
But everyone reacts differently, so you might be just fine. Some people don't even swell up afterward, the lucky bastards.
Nevertheless I highly - HIGHLY - recommend laying in some mint tea to drink iced and some high-ginger ginger ale as well, so if you react like I did your stomach won't feel quite so masochistic afterward.
Good luck! Prepare to pamper yourself silly, because that's what people post-surgery should do!

I've had no issue getting knocked out before. You mus have eaten something before hand. No eating for me the the evening on until the surgery.

I'm convinced it was genetic because my brother had his teeth out six months later, and we reacted so much the same that he vomited at almost exactly three hours post surgery, too. And then promptly fell asleep. Exactly like me.

The only thing I had to eat before the surgery was a "Valium," which they told me would make me feel goofy but didn't seem to have any effect on me at all--I was kind of disappointed.

I'm not looking forward to the self portraits for those few days.

Take pictures of something besides your face, then, like your hands--surely one's hands can say just as much about a person as their face?
