"Electra and the Electric Light"

I love the way her black fur disappears into the background.

I've been trying to get rid of a few things, lately, too, but I keep running into the same problem: what if I need it someday? Seem I'm a packrat, and my physical space accurately reflects my mental space in that it's cluttered with vaguely organized useful amusing, and/or interesting stuff. But in helping my parent's care for my grandmother I am coming to understand just what a pain in the ass excess stuff is, so the knickknacks are going, the extra vaccum is going, the biker jacket and any clothes I haven't worn in a year are going...
...but the art supplies? Craft supplies? Random serving bowls and tea cups? My old choir music?! That might come in useful someday!!!

Re: "Electra and the Electric Light"

Things that give you happiness should be kept.

I'm ditching the stuff I don't care about or don't use. Like that stuff in the garage that we moved from the balcony? Lots of that could probably go, barring kitchen utensils we currently use that belong to aetrix9 or miagisbambubike. Books too. Most I have read or won't read so they can go. A few I keep for sentimental value but those number in the teens, not the dozens that I do have.

Re: "Electra and the Electric Light"

*sheepish* See, I'm bad. I own like, what? A hundred books, easy? And even the ones I don't like I won't get rid off...because they're my books.
I used to own a copy of "Wind In The Willows," which I got because it's a classic, even though I've never read it. And after a few years of still not reading it, I gave it to charity. And then guess what? Yesterday I was reading a research article on car kleptomania that kept making references to "Wind In The Willows," and I thought, "Holy cow, I need to read that book!" And I reached for it...and it wasn't there.
And this only strengthens my resolve to never get rid of a book again.
