not speaking derogatorily, no. i think your photoshop skills are likely much better than my own (another push for me to make my photos better -- i can'd manipulate them as well!)

i understand the disconnect between the brain and the image. as a photographer, i think you're good and getting better. as a digital artist, i think you surpass a lot of what's out there, and it'd just be a matter of culling things for a portfolio.

the disconnect for me lessened as i took more pictures. at first, digital lets you take more pictures for less money, and you can pick that "perfect shot" out of a dozen pictures instead of two or three. then you work on your shooting ration -- more good pictures than bad. i'm around 1:4 or 1:5 right now.

as far as gallery shows go, if you want to start small, look at local coffee shops that have art on the walls. many of them, especially around state street, cycle through shows on a monthly basis or so. once you're comfortable in that forum, you aim for bigger fishbowls.

all of this is just IMHO and FWIW, of course.

also, of the images you liked to, i think the "best" (or at least most portfolio-worthy) are lightning and bizarro capitol. there were one or two others that you posted recently, as well.

also, also, i need to snag you sometime to drag you into the stacks at memorial. there's more than one spot i think you'd get a kick out of, and it'd be a fun perspective project.

It took so long to understand photoshop. i quite literally played with it for hours every single night for the first year Fox and I lived in Madison. She can attest to the neglect. :)

I agree. I am getting better. Just not as qui8ckly as I'd prefer. :)

Yup yup. Need to not be so lazy. Get a portfolio together. Frame some stuff. Generally do all the stuf I need to do.

What's FWIW?

I need to retool Bizarro Capitol. I over did the adjusting. The halo looks dumb.

MMmmm stacks. I'm up for it. Where is it?

rule #1: no more neglecting the fox.

B.) and hey, i'm lazy, too. i have slides made for my jewelry, and pieces "selected" for a portfolio, but i haven't gone and made lots of enlargements yet because of the expense involved.

iii.) FWIW: for what it's worth.

vier) bizarro: i might crop it in a little closer on the left as well, but i really like how it's an unexpected perspective of an image that's SO overdone around here.

V.) stacks: memorial library, on library mall, across from the historical society. you'd need to get a day pass since you aren't a UW staff/student, but they're open rather oftentimes until late, and later once the students get back next week.
