Covers? - Portrait of a Young Man as The Artist — LiveJournal
Ok, so how many versions of Paint it Black exist? I have one cover but no idea of the band. It's a bit harder than the original.
I'm guessing there's at least one techno version somewhere.

I think I must (MUST) have them all.
Must. Have. All.
All. Must.

Rolling Stones, I believe, penned the original.

Nevermind... I thought you said something that you had no idea the ORIGINAL band. Slow reader, I apologize.

I think the cover from the Scream soundtrack is probably the best recorded cover I've heard... Best version EVER was this guy at a party once who just kept playing it over and over on his guitar - not singing but fingerpicking the melody. People would sit down for a minute or two and sing a few lines and then get up and walk onto something else. Really good guitar playing... That was probably the best version I've heard.

See, now you're just driving me mad by telling me I can't get the best version. :P THis is, of course, assuming that you're opinions and my opinions of music continue to converge.

'cept for that Kate Bush stuff. <shudder>

And the Dos Boys (chicagoland small band) in thier self published CD "Will Sing for Food" did an awesome parody. I can't seem to locate it on the internet, though.

Gah. Paint it Black covers just make me sad. The original is the way to go. That song is so good.

Rolling Stones aren't my prefered music genre, really. I prefer the covers I've heard.
