Huh.. Good step? or McDoctor?
Geisinger opens "quick stop" clinic in Market.
Not sure how I feel about this.
Curious idea.

I skimmed, so I may have missed mention of price, but they're probably charging an arm and a leg for this.

Prices are expected to range from $10 to $100, with an average cost of about $55, including most laboratory testing. Some of the services are covered by health insurance, depending on individual benefit plans. All costs are substantially less than fees in urgent care centers or emergency rooms.

But let's be real... if I'm going to the ER, I wouldn't be going there for 15 minutes because I have a stuffy nose.

I actually like the idea. Of the... two times I've gone to the doctor in the ... no, three times I've gone to the doctor in the last ten years, twice was specifically to get tested for strep (once because my mother can get hysterical, once 'cause I actually had it) and once for a sinus infection. If they're just offering the basics, immunizations and tests for really common things and everything else, it's a great way to make the test easy, convenient, without paying for a doctor's visit/appointment or sitting around in a waiting room for half an hour.

I just hope they're structuring the area so that they don't expose lots of other people to strep, pink-eye, etc.

I can run cheaper because no Doctor time is use regularly. All the labs and procedures likely to be done we be quickly done by a nurse.

It's clever, really.
