It's so quiet here. I'm the only person on my side of the office. I got in a little after 7am, first one in and the lights were off.
Maybe I should turn out the lights again and have a seance. We'll resurrect Napoleon and march through the rest of the building and conquer cube after cube of non-French developers.

It would be creepy fun.

And then you two can get drunk on wine or maybe sing showtunes like "Corpse Bride"! He can explain to you the history of the napolean on how to make it.

I don't think Napoleon was much of a drinker.

Would you rather he explain the implementation of the wheel formation instead? Or why he kicked ass for standardizing canned foods? Or try to explain how MREs now use magnesium heating systems to cook your food?

Mm. Magnesium.

Don't go too far east with your conquering, man. I hear it's kind of cold over there.

Not when the Russians burn all their land. Then it gets plenty warm.

Excellent link. My thinking is doing this slow shift. While I never particpated in a Purity Ball or anything of the sort, I was one of those young teenagers asked to sign a "Love Waits" agreement. And I did. Beleiving it would. I broke it (for all the wrong reasons) but now at the age of 23, I see how ludacris it was.

My liberal thoughts are going to harshly conflict with my parents conservative views someday soon. It's a fine line to walk - respecting your parents for what they beleive and being your own individual.

It's an even finer line to instill your morals and let your child be their own person. I think the latter is more important.

People need to know what their doing before marriage. It increases the likelihood the marriage will last.

I don't understand how people think the world will go to hell with premarital sex, let alone sex education. It would be better for marriage to accept/foster/condone these things.

I would argue with that at all. But how, being the younger generation, do I turn to my elders and explain this in a civil manner? Especially when children talking back, at any age, is not welcome?

I agree, to an extent. Accept/foster/condone yes, but in moderation. Yes, young adults should have proper education. Bush's abstinence only campaign has been useless. I would have to look at the numbers, but I believe STDs and teenage pregnancy have increased. Youth need to be armed with the knowledge of all things sexual - including restraint. I do not beleive that any 14 year old needs to be having sex. Nor should the young side of the young adults have multiple sex partners. Being sexually active isn't solely about filling a physical need. Science tells us that hormones are released during intercourse that bind our partners tightly to our memories and emotions. By broaching the topic of sex education, I believe we need to include not only the physical side of things, but the psychological side as well. No more 2 week courses. A class devoted to human sexuality. And not just for the college freshmen to giggle at - to truly teach our youth - high school, middle school if need be - their rights and responsibilities of being sexual creatures.
Blah blah blah.
I'm sure I will view all of this differently when my 16 y/o daughter wants to let a boy violate her in such a profound and disgusting manner. :)

Hm, Purity Balls sound like pretty much the exact opposite of my mom telling me at 16 that she thought my first boyfriend broke up with me because I would only have oral sex with him. I had some very odd ideas about virginity at the time, but my mom made sure to educate me on the merits of premarital sex. I still decided to wait until *I* thought I was ready, though.
