Bite the bullet.
Tell me about dentists in Madison.

I think I need my wisdom teeth pulled. I think they may be the cause of some of my neck and should stiffness and headaches the last few weeks.

Before you think about wisdom teeth, check and make sure you're not clenching your teeth. Set a timer of some type or set some random alarms in your calendar - when they go off see if you were clenching your teeth. That can lead to a LOT of pain in all kinds of weird places.

I can't believe you haven't had them out yet! I thought I was the longest-waiting Wisdom Tooth Puller int he Whole World. I had Oral and Maxxilofacial surgeons (or soemthing like that) do mine. Gammon and Old Sauk Rd. They stocked me up good with painkillers.

I took snot drugs. My brain feels funny. I am officially sick. Damnit.

I had a lot of pain before my teeth came out, but it was pretty clearly oral pain. My biggest thing was feeling like my cheekbones were aching all of the time. Then it spread to my jaw, because I was clenching my teeth. I also had a lot of general tooth sensitivity, both to cold and heat, but also to impacts (Biting on hard-ish things).

I'm sure you've heard but getting my Wisdom teeth out was horrible and awful and traumatizing. I was out of work for a week.

Now's a good time to get them done, however, because over the summer every fucking High School Senior in the entire Dane County Area makes sure to have their fucking wisdom teeth ripped out before they go off to College in the fall.

<rant>We're supposed to loose some teeth once and a while, you know? We get wisdom teeth later in life to replace the teeth we've lost due to age and wear. That just doesn't happen anymore. Dentists and (God they're awful) orthodontists make small-jawed people look like freakish cromagnon horse-toothed metal-mouthed 32-toothed weirdos instead of pulling out a tooth or two so they all fit. E-freaking-gads. They go to extreme lengths to make sure we all have a high-debt cosmetically perfect set of choppers. Another reason not to breed. Less fodder for dentists.<</rant>

I'm pretty sure it's the teeth. Senior year in college I had an infection from one of them breaking the gum line poorly. I never got checked again.

My father never had his removed. My family doesn't have much history of surgery, oral or otherwise.

Reminding me that your time was so traumatic really doesn't make me want to do this any more.

I've gotten three recommendations for the place on Gammon and Sauk.

Frankly, I can't really recommend them because I didn't have any interaction with them. They just did my teeth. My dentist is part of that facility (in the dentistry part, not the surgery part) and he did all of my preop and followup. So, the only experience I had with those people was showing up in my PJs and being taken home in a cab and drooling on Charlie. I didn't even meet my surgeon.

Actually, taken into perspective, that's kinda freaky.

Dr McConville (someone is totally pimping him in madisonwi) has a seriously nasty hygienist

at least he did in 1993, the last time I went to the dentist

she totally scarred me, literally and figuratively

he's pretty cool, though

Strange... I see McConville too. Weird. I go and see Carla in his office and she's not nasty at all - she's quite cool and really great with the scaler.

Go to the dentist. Now.

Right now...

Get going, damnit.

Couldn't been Carla - she's in her early 30s. She was still in high school the last time you were at the dentist.

Maybe he hasn't reached his Carla quotient yet, as that is the name I remember. This one must be Carla MKII... perhaps this version has been improved. Hrm.

Well they made Carla MKII much prettier.

I will go there tomorrow or sooner.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

wisdom teeth

damn, i'm sorry. hope it goes well. i had dry sockets but as long as you don't smoke or drink soda it should be ok (drinking soda's what caused my dry sockets, i wish i had known that beforehand). i had a doctor in rockford who's name i can't spell but it was pronounced wrenchler... i should've realized i'd have problems.
