This happens every first day of snow & ice. I like to laugh at them.

Big pile 'o idjits. I don't get why everyone can't take it easy.

The ice on my windshield was thick enough that it broke my scraper. One would think ice on the windshield may indicate similar surfaces having ice on them.

Yeah, it's uncanny. I was vacationing in THE SOUTH once, though, when their winter started (and it was their first winter in like 6 years, mind you) and people just didn't know what to do. They were 5 MPH accidents everywhere because the only place they had ever seen ice before was in a glass of Jack Daniels. That was high comedy.

In San Fransisco 5ish years ago it snowed. They shit the city down until it melted that afternoon.

Same thing happens in Utah. If it snows they have to shut cities down because they don't have a ready way to deal with it.

That anything like a platypus?

it's a cross between hilarious and a platypus, in fact.

GOOD DETECTIVE WORK

Only Southern Utah. The north knows how.
abmann From: abmann Date: November 16th, 2005 04:26 pm (UTC) (Link)
That makes it sillier.

*shrug* Whatever. Northern Utah is SNOW COUNTRY. Mountains, Skiing... They'd DIE if they didn't know how to deal with it. Southern Utah is 5 hours away from that, and a hot stinky desert.

fuckdamn. you'd think they'd never seen snow/ice before. glad i don't have to go anywhere today if i don't want to.

Lucky.

People and their hurridness makes me sad. I far prefer to get to work with car intact than be on time. Though, the people for whom I work are sensible and agree with me.

most definitely. and even if my employers didn't agree i'd still rather be fired than dead.

It's easier to take rain for granteed. People don't slip on rain when they walk but they do slip on snow.

In this partcular case the fact that it wasn't snowing but it had sleeted the night before probably had a lot to do with it. Still, if yuo have to scrape ice off your windshield there may be other surfaces with ice... like roads.

Yeah, but I'll be laughing at you when the summer reaches 115.

I'll take the cold, thanks. :)

The idiots were going plenty slow when I was driving to work this morning. The beltline was creeping along at about 15 mph, therefore I was late for work.

Ya know what they say: Better late than in a ditch.
abmann From: abmann Date: November 16th, 2005 07:39 pm (UTC) (Link)
The beltline had a 4 car accident which was causing the slowness. :|

Um... Can we get some sympathy for the cyclists around here? Our cycling season is effectively OVER almost a month and a half earlier than last year. Usually my pre-birthday snow is a fitful attempt at actual snow and doesn't stick or cause accidents. This year...

Damnit. I want to ride my bicycle. I want to ride my bike.

This entry has nothing to do cyclists. It's about stupid motorists. Why should I include sympathy for people not being stupid?
aetrix9 From: aetrix9 Date: November 16th, 2005 08:19 pm (UTC) (Link)
I saw TWO cyclists this morning.

That's stupid.

My first accident with my first car was in my first winter of my first year living in Madison. Some idjit from California slid into my trunk, lifting it up, crunching it in and rotating it on the x axis a few degrees.

I still was the fist person into work that day.
The shop to which I took my car did a nice job. The trunk is still water proof and everything is in line.
