Trip to Vegas/Seattle starts tomorrow. Vacation? What? I'm incredibly excited to be off for a week with lady_fox. The trip should be most excellent as stated in my icon. :)

There's a certain person I shall be missing though.
--
I swear to the Gods my new building has a conspiracy to continually test my resolve. Every two to three days someone brings in food. Not healthy food. Fatty sweets that make for blobular human beings. Today there is a MASSIVE PILE of cream puffs. I've been here for over a month now and not once have I eaten the crpissants, cakes, cookies or six pies that show up.

Jerks.
--
There's a dead pixel on my monitor. Now that I've seen it I can't un-see it. Stupid red dot.
--
I'm so ready for vacation. I can't focus on anything. I have a developer that's going to watch me QA for an hour. That's going to be a dull hour for him

Gas hits $6 in Atlanta.

Have a wonderful time on your vacation :)

And if you think the cream puffs et. al. are bad, try working in an office with all women-they bring in all sorts of stuff :)

I'm very glad that I've stopped craving sweets or I'd be fat again.

There's one guy that has decided to take up baking. Every few days he show up with a new, pretty cake; he tell us to eat it and provide feedback. He's a jerk.

I just got this:

Hi Nathan,

I've had an intro text for Will since shortly after we talked, but every
time I tried to call there was no voicemail. Now that the semester has started I'm assuming you're back on campus. If Will still wants an intro text, please stop by my office and pick up the text I've left just outside
my door.

Alexis

Want me to do anything about it?

D'oh. I'll email her.
-
Who has she been calling?
nathan_lounge From: nathan_lounge Date: September 1st, 2005 01:51 pm (UTC) (Link)
Interesting question. I don't think it's me, since I've always had an answering machine. It was pretty early in the summer, so I might have given her an incorrect number 'cause I'm smooth like that. *shrug*
abmann From: abmann Date: September 1st, 2005 01:57 pm (UTC) (Link)
Eh. I apologized for what ever went wrong. it's good. I've been ignoring the fact I need to get recommendations from her so this was good.

Why does this woman frighten me so?
nathan_lounge From: nathan_lounge Date: September 1st, 2005 02:07 pm (UTC) (Link)
I've always pegged it on her voice. There's something about her small frame and raspy, mafioso voice that don't mix...or rather mix to make a scary woman.

So.. does that make the book an offer I cannot refuse? Am I going to wake up with heads of famous psychologists in my bed?!?!

And a dead rabbit.

Only if the IRB approves.
aetrix9 From: aetrix9 Date: September 1st, 2005 03:07 pm (UTC) (Link)
That's great. Ha ha ha. Funny thing is - I'm doing just as stupid and ridiculous right now to send to the IRB.
abmann From: abmann Date: September 1st, 2005 03:57 pm (UTC) (Link)
What sort of ridiculous thing? Am I going to come home to baggies of cancer in my apartment?
aetrix9 From: aetrix9 Date: September 1st, 2005 04:02 pm (UTC) (Link)
The UWIRB needs to approve an approval given by the University of Iowa IRB. They're approving other people's approvals now.

Bureaucracies are formed to create more bureaucracy.
abmann From: abmann Date: September 1st, 2005 04:03 pm (UTC) (Link)
Approving approvals is a great way to increase self-esteem.

Wasn't there an X-Files episode about some dude that ate out people's cancer? Or maybe I'm thinking of The Outer Limits...
abmann From: abmann Date: September 1st, 2005 04:14 pm (UTC) (Link)
It was X-Files. He had a superhero-symbiosis thing with cancer. He ate cancer to refuel his body due to the expedited, cancerous cell growth. He posed as a doctor because he could sense the cancer.

It was a weird episode.
aetrix9 From: aetrix9 Date: September 1st, 2005 05:30 pm (UTC) (Link)
Strange thing is... Cancer patients actually do smell different. I'm pretty sure it's the chemo and the horrible damage we're doing to their liver and kidneys, but they smell different. Sweeter, somehow.

abmann From: abmann Date: September 1st, 2005 05:39 pm (UTC) (Link)
Check their disposition. The happy, postive people may smell better.

You should also smell premie babies' heads to see if the cabbage patch premie collection did, indeed, replicate hypo-born baby smell properly.

You said something about sending text messages to you online. What's the URL?
aetrix9 From: aetrix9 Date: September 1st, 2005 03:10 pm (UTC) (Link)
TXT like on my phone or something else? I'm almost always on AIM. I don't know how to send txt messages to my pager from outside the university.

I'm almost always on AIM, but I'd appreciate not being bombed with TXT messages since I get paid per message. If we want to establish it as a medium of communication, I want to get a $4/mo package of TXT messags.
abmann From: abmann Date: September 1st, 2005 04:11 pm (UTC) (Link)
I shall just find alternate routes to send you sweet nothings while away then. Texting should be free, darn it.

She probably has freud's head in a box somewhere.

She could make millions by selling it.
