Workin'

War Room.

So, I managed to brow beat my developers and a few TSers to dedicate one day per month to do o nothing but fix QANs. I'm sitting in the West Gate War Room watching them fix issues that have gone unfixed, in some cases, multiple years. This is a good feeling. However, this also means that I'm in the war room all day doing nothing but QA note triage which I find to be one of the most dull things that i have to do as TL. I feel moderately guilty, too, because I'm having my teammate help do the triage. I really don't like giving other people tedious things to do that are ultimately my responsibility. BUT! Things are getting fixed which I didn't think was ever going to happen.

I guess the lesson to learn is that I can demand things and people will do them around the workplace, especially when I involve the division lead in the meeting. :) I dislike that I have to be so demanding to get these things done but in light of the Integrated testing session last week, it may be my only recourse.

I though people were supposed to be responsible/motivated in the Real World?
I think my view of working and workers in general is not in line with reality.

On Salads

Raisins make salads far better especially when you dress them wish a vinaigrette. I'd never have thought to try it. Thanks to lady_fox for that revelation. Subsequently, I imaging if you blend the raisins in your food processor with balsamic vinegar and add your oil to dress, the flavors would infuse very well. I haven't tried this myself but I see potential.

I learned two things with my lunch today. First, fresh turnips are very sweet and match very well with banana. When I cooked the turnips last night I had a wicked urge to drop in sliced banana to the pan. I did and I win today. However, I didn't toss the banana with any acid to prevent browing (that's the second thing I learned). It looks nasty today. I did splash on some mirin which is nice. I haven't tried the balsamic I have in a little tub. I'm worried I'll ruin it because it is quite good now.

Let's see...

Nope. Balsamic vinegar + turnips + banana = yummy. Go figure.

Tonight, I'm going to roast the asparagus I got in the CSA share. Then I'm going to make a mustard aioli, slice up some potato and greens and make a asparagus-potato salad to go with the stroganoff Fox is cooking for dinner. It shall be a fun adventure. I've only made aioli once before on my own.

Cooking has become a new and intoxicating creative outlet for my life.
I hearts it. Even when the toasted cashews get stuck in my teeth.

Get the birdie!

I'm getting bored with cat pictures. I think I may wander around the Verona Campus and Verona proper tomorrow after work see if I can get some good shots. Epic has plenty of interesting art that should prove decent subjects. That should make for funny explanations to some coworkers.

Asparagus-potato aioli thing worked well. Fox's rhubarb pie was the best pie I think I've ever eaten.
