OMGWTFBYOBBQ??!?
"If ovulation has occurred, there's a potential for new life in that
woman, so then the church's responsibility is to protect both the woman
and the new baby," says Alia Keys, coordinator of the Office of
Marriage and Family for the Archdiocese of Denver.

So... with the effort to outlaw abortion and emergency contraception, what does that say about rape? Is it now the will of God that a woman is pregnant from rape?

This is, of course, assuming the church is avatar for His will.... which they seem to be doing.

O'course it is. If it wasn't, she wouldn't be pregnant. Right? Right?

Tastes like Abortion...

Keep in mind that you have to understand the way that particular position is built.

This is theoretically since I don't care to actually read the article and I already understand pretty much the entire stock of positions on abortion: If one believes in hard determinism based around a theological or "God's Plan" description of the universe, and they concieve of life as being a matter of conception, then it does follow that women impregnated through rape would be morally required to carry out the pregnancy. Another possibility (and I imagine the more likely) is that she is talking about something akin to the "future like ours" distinction and identifying the moral issue with the involvement of our actions in the lives of future potential persons. So, for example, there is a certain moral onus on us not to pollute our enviroment because it infringes on the quality of life for future generations. In the same way, there is a moral requirement not to actively prevent someone from coming into existance who would otherwise live a life of quality and worth. Thus, while it is tragic that a woman be sexually assaulted, that has no bareing on the future of the particular child (this is ofcourse tailoring out all the cases where we're talking about a crackhead mother or possibilty of death for people involved or anything like that) and there is a moral responsibility to it once concieved.

Now, I don't buy any of it because I draw the line of personhood at birth and believe in a humane doctrine of treatment of animals, not a no-pain doctine, but there are some very well considered and articulated positions that can uphold what that person is expressing.

You have to remember, though, that God loves rape.

Seriously, people should read the Bible. I don't know who made up all this love and forgiveness shit, but I think they skimmed the new testament and totally skipped to old.
