X100 - Portrait of a Young Man as The Artist — LiveJournal

X100, originally uploaded by ABMann.

Happy birthday to me!

It is just so pretty. I haven’t taken it for a serious run yet, just a spin through the mall after a haircut this evening.

Initial impressions:
Lighter than expected but nice to hold.
So effing quiet. You can’t hear it trigger outside almost at all.
The supplied strap is pathetic.
Autofocus is smarter and faster than expected given internet reviews.
Though I do agree that it is ludicrous there isn’t some sort of indication of focus in the viewfinder if manually focusing. That is ludicrous.
High ISO performance is *in-sane*
This was taken at 1250:

So far, I like it. I need to take it to The Streets, yo.

The cactuar charm give is a +1 to hiding, obviously.

Ha, just couldn't stop the temptation finally. Well, feel free to put up a review on it, I wouldn't mind hearing what works.

For me, I'm going to upgrade to a NEX-7. Rumors out there suggest they'll also put out a Zeiss prime for it that uses a nice quiet leaf shutter. My dream of quiet photography at unconventional angles can finally come true.

EDIT: Figures I didn't read your first impressions. All the same, glad you're liking it. It's using a Sony sensor, so if it's anything close to the one in my K-5, you can push it much, MUCH, farther than 1250.
