If I Say I'm Gruff, It's a Lie. I'm No Cowboy - Portrait of a Young Man as The Artist — LiveJournal
If I Say I'm Gruff, It's a Lie. I'm No Cowboy

I'm listening to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I can tell that my generation is coming into its own now as this sort of concept and humor is becoming status quo. If this is any good, I think I'm going to swing back and either read or listen to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I respected Pride and Prejudice and recall being entirely unable to keep characters straight aside from knowing Mr. Darcy was a jerk.

This is the part where I complain that I don't read enough and outline all the reasons why I'm becoming dumber because of it.

So I'm this close to having my workflow down editing photos on the iPad - I named it Sia which is the Egyptian "god" concept of the perceptive mind - but most of the apps resize the photos to "reasonable sizes:" the words of one developer I contacted about it. This reasonable size is, of course, not printable beyond 3x4s, 4x5s if I'm lucky.

I have a few more people I'm going to contact before trying any other applications but I'm generally annoyed. I think this thing is more powerful than people realize. I don't expect it to handle raw files but I don't think it is unreasonable to be able to process a JPG capable of printing at 8x10.

365 project still goes. Today is day 104. I should have done something much cooler for 100 but I'm terrible about remembering dates/counts for this.

The project looks so... inconsistent.

I also wanted to do something spectacular for day 100, but then I felt like vomit all day so I did not.

It would be fun at the end of the year to place ours side-by-side.

I'm really surprised that the ipad apps are doing that. It seems JUST MADE for photo editing.

I'm not so sure I even know what "spectacular" would be at this point. Being almost a third of the way through this thing is kind of crazy.

I agree. How could we accomplish this? Maybe a Flickr Collection or an über gigantic LJ post with HTML table? :)

I AGREE! I think it's just the first batch of applications being more conservative. I expect some more powerful, Photoshop-like program that will be perfect once people learn how to develop for the platform.

That said, Filterstorm is really quite good and capable beyond the re-sizing issue. Camerabag for iPad is also quite good AND handles larger photos better than the prior; it's just far less robust.

Ok.. not gonna go off about it any more. Darn iPad. :)

Do you have any common thread you're trying to weave into your 365? I'm... failing at that.

I was thinking of a flash app.. I did a slideshow sort of thing for my first 365 like that.

I did a relatively strict theme in my first 365 and by the end of it I was miserable. I've been loose with the theme on this one, but I'm finding that equally detrimental.

I am all for this though I have never accomplished this not having Flash and whatnot. Let us commiserate when we get closer to the 365 mark!

I don't think there's any winning with this project. :) The end result of having all the photos is pretty neat but limited to anything gets frustrating. Maybe if I didn't have a desk job, it would be more interesting in that I'd go more places and have more varied photos. As is, I don't have that much time to go somewhere to take the photo if I also want to get my work done, eat at all and maintain a clean house or relax ever....

bitch bitch bitch
I'm whiny today.

I have the same laments.

I hope you're well aware that Marvel published the illustrated version of Pride & Prejudice as well. You now have all your different venues to taste this... kind of dated but still appreciative fruit.

I have seen it and I don't know how I feel about it. Some classics benefit from graphic novels - like anything Poe wrote or, perhaps, some of Dostoevsky - but Victorian styled prose, I think, loses something in that translation.

Maybe it would be easier to follow the characters, though. :)

I think Mr. Darcy would clearly be Cyclops.

And Wolverine would be Lydia Bennet.

I didn't think the characters were that hard to follow, to be honest. They're kind of cliche these days.

Though it probably doesn't help that I've forgotten most of the names these days and only remember the templates these roles have invented. -_-

If you'd like, I have a copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies that you may have. I didn't much care for it, but that's because I hate the original genre of literature.
P.S. Free today if you want some Aperture.

Crap, totally forgot about Aperture.

Great colurs. My wife has read most of those mashup novels, and quite enjoyed them.
