It Was a Lomo Kind of Day

Went wandering State Street today shooting like a lomographer. I'm trying to return to my preferred photographic mode - fabricated nostalgia - the feeling that you've been there and lived that moment. Something about the colors and bad angles and lack of focus creates his feeling in me and I love it.

I think Lomography is a philosophy more than a suite of products.

I'm also trying to become the Mayor of Madison Bathrooms on Foursquare.

Great Capitalist Engine.

I admit, I own an action sampler because it's clever but.. wow, pricey.

The yellow balloon is digging you. I can tell.

I was insanely close to gettin me a Holga Jack edition, but turns out I couldn't do it to myself. Once upon a time Dianas cost $1... they're plastic. But nowadays fads sell starting with the ignorant. I'll probably end up with one someday though.

Sooweet (: Yellow be my favorite.

I went looking for the lomo camera thing a few years ago when I started collecting old Russian cameras. In the span of a few weeks, the prices went nuts. It was right when the craze really started.

I give them one awesome thing they've done: encourage russian cleavage connect artists everywhere.

Haha. Whatever they have done, it sure worked for em.
I'm just waiting for some scandal to hit the surface at full throttle.

It's so weird to know where these photos were taken!

Were you out there today? The snow sculptures were really neat. And I would hate to be the clean-up crew for the TONS of snow dropped onto MLK.

I rarely leave the house since monogate. Still not fully recovered. I was out on State Street for Wilco, though... but I didn't get to see anything exciting.

Mono.. gate...?

I had no idea Wilco was in town. This is what I get for being a work-to-home-to-work hermit in the last two months.

I had mono! Woo!

Wilco was indeed in town. Last night at the Overture (yuck) but it was an amazing show. I felt like one of the youngest there! I wish I had taken my 365 shot there... I'm getting a bit tired of the o-shoot-it's-1am-and-I-don't-have-a-picture shots in my room. :] C'est la vie! I have 300 more to correct this.

Yuck. I haven't had mono. My sister had it and didn't move for two months. NO FUN.

Heee. I have yet to have a 1am moment like that. I have, however, had plenty of "stupid-damn-no-light-here" when I get home after dark and need to strip lampshades.

Maybe I should actually charge the batteries in my flash...

I'm not fan of flash myself! Sometimes it just has to happen.

If I ever get out and see you around the downtown area, I'll give a holler. Sure, I'll seem like some crazy kid, but that's fun. Or I'll throw a snowball because you're a Nikon person. Also fun.

I shall watch for the pink haired evil Canon users with vigor!

Great shots.

I really love reading people's reflections on their art. Thanks for sharing yours.
