Random question - what you do shot with?

Nikon D90. I don't recall the lens here, likely my VR zoom. The info is on the photo properties in Flickr.

Nikon FOR EVA!

I am noticing an interesting trend. White people have nikons. Asian people have canons.

I might be asking you for help then. I just got a Nikon D5000 for christmas. And Holy Crap it's a lot of camera for a newbie like me.

Ask away. I love camera geekery. Photoshop geekery too. :D

while in France, EVERYONE had a Nikon. I think much of it is stocking issues. Nikon is notoriously bad about stocking in the US in favor of Japan and Europe.

Ooohhh ... I want to learn Photoshop. That looks like fun. I like your polaroid series that you do.

I landed a copy of PS9 out of college and spent nearly every night playing with it or reading tutorials for over a year straight. That was 2004. I can't imagine the hours I've put into it since then, or total.

What I'm saying is I can totally help you there too or find a tutorial that can. :)

ooooh ... thanks dear!

This is my lesson plans for myself.
Step one - Get new camera
Step two - learn how to use camera.
Step three - learn photoshop

I just completely step one and now am on step two.

Also do you think that a UV fliter is a good buy? Or a waste of money? Should we dare take our relationship to a new leval - from LJ buddies to email buddies?!?!?

Heh. There's LJ messages, the evil offspring of LJ and email. :)

I have no UV filters. First, I don't live in altitudeshigh enough to actual have enough UV light to cause a blue/purple hue in a photo unless I'm shooting obliquely into the sun. Also, I don't mind the little bit of color/glare that you get without them. To me, it feels more natural or is easily fixable in post production. If anything, they're good for a little extra lens protection; so buy cheap if you do?

Baby steps then - no need to rush into anything. And LJ message is the bastard red-haired kid that no one likes.

Hmmm ... well since they are like $5 I might get them for when I go into the mountains.

I've been trying to convince the it people at work to give me photoshop - but they are hemming and hawing about it. Something about licenses or some nonesense like that.
