Pardon me, I'm having some Leica lust right now - even if it is a fixed-lens camera.
Best to move along.

I used to have a perfectly maintained 1940s era Leica. Then it got stolen. :(

That sucks! Holy crap that would drive me batty.

There's a Leica III at a local antique store going for $800 right now. I've been tempted to offer the guy $500 since it has been there for years now. :)

It was pretty upsetting, especially since I'm sure the person who stole it had no idea what it was worth. :/ It was my fault for leaving it in my car, though.

Yes and no. I'm not convinced the victim is to blame for theft in this sort of scenario. Maybe you are to blame for not taking pictures with it at ever possible second, sure, but not for someone seeing it and stealing it.

I understand where you're coming from, and in a theoretical sense I agree with you. Of course, it's not my fault that someone decided to smash the windows of my car and steal everything in it.

But in a practical sense, I live in a high-crime area where it isn't uncommon for your windows to be smashed in if you leave something valuable lying around. Car break-ins are so common here that I don't know anybody who lives here who HASN'T had their car broken into, and it wasn't the first time it had happened to me. It was stupid of me to not take the extra time to bring EVERYTHING inside (I was moving and had finals at the same time, eek.) So it's not my fault, but it was the result of me doing something I knew not to do.
