I am seriously lacking in photographic desire and inspiration.
Maybe I just need to cruise through all the France photos.

Also, I still dislike packing but it is better when you have a spare room in which to hide all the clutter.
Tonight I want to clear the spare closet of all but cat poop receptacles and pack the spare bathroom.

How do you pack extra blankets and bedding?

Current Mood: blah blah

Large white trash bags with big marker letters on them saying "BEDDING"

I've always had bursting issues with bags but they seem better than boxes. Precious, precious boxes.

Get good solid garbage bags... and really, they help fill up the truck and pack in the strange spaces.

If you lack photographic desire, perhaps you should peruse the latest camera magazines for something that sparks your lust.

As for the bedding, I find that folding it and putting it in a box works pretty well.

As in buy more camera gear? no sir! I'm buying a house next week!

You don't have to buy it, just lust after it.

Yep, large trash bags clearly marked bedding. Better yet if you can find those clear leaf garbage bags - they're everywhere here right now, I'd imagine you could find them in Wisconsin....

Nah, we don't have trees in Wisconsin. Just snow.

I pack extra bedding and blankets with breakable dishes for extra protection.

And I first read "I am seriously lacking in robotic desire..."

Oh, my robot lust remains delightfully in tact.

Alright, I'm gonna lay some skoolin' on you son.

Here's what you do...

Take Blanket A and lay out out perfectly flat on the floor, preferably in the middle of a room with shelves and stuff that you need to pack. Now circle your room with your arm out, knocking all that displayed crap onto the blanket on the floor. Once your floor is covered with stuff, you gather up all four corners of the blanket making a big pouch. Twist the top to keep it closed and huck the whole tramp bag over your shoulder. You're now packed an entire room and your blanket. Walk on over to your new room, dump the bag and repeat.

It's how I moved every year in college!

I remember the year you moved like this. It took you from 9am to 3AM to finish. If I do that with a two bedroom, 2 bath apartment I'll be finished approximately next June.

Yeah, but that was like the first time I did it. By the time I graduated I was able to change rooms in less than an hour and a half. With my method you can move your entire place in like a morning.

Option 2: Give all your stuff away and get new stuff. I hear a new house means lots of new things. If that doesn't work, then you should consider some combination of house warming/wedding shower/wedding party/baby shower events. Then you'll rake in the house gifts!

We are actually re-engineering some current furniture to PREVENT me from replacing our very old, very cat-scratched sofas. I'd totally but new stuff if I didn't just spend my next two pay checks on a 3 star meal in Paris :)

Where'd you end up eating? What'd you have? Tell me tell me tell me!

BTW, haven't you ever heard of credit? Zero financing is what the recession is all about! Here's what you do. Buy your house using one of those really risky mortgage set ups where they convince you to buy more house than you need and then roll in extra money into your mortgage for rainy day repairs. Take the money and buy like 3 or 4 credit default swaps on the loan that your loan agent will sell off the second you're out the door. Then spend all your liquid money on new stuff so it looks like you're broke on paper. Then default on your mortgage and declare bankruptcy. Then cash in your 4x insurance claims. Then buy a new house with cash and move all your new furniture in it. Then use your fat savings account to fund new grills, fly honeys, and trips around the world in your private jet. That'll teach those negative nancies!

We had the tasting menu at Taillevent. Fox got pictures of all but the first course. I dunno if she posted about it yet.

I did take pictures... and they are here, though I haven't posted about them yet.

I didn't get pictures of the amuse, or the first course. I remember really liking the amuse, but not what it was. The first course was a really delightful crab salady thing that was very pretty and I'm still kicking myself for not picturing it.

We've asked techdragon to make a sofa cover for the one couch. :) I"m not sure of we want to do one for our fake leather one just yet.

that's cool.

I once moved in the summer after packing my blankets in white trash bags and labeling the bags with sharpie marker.

Turns out that sharpie will rub off of plastic bags onto sweaty arms and legs.

Eww.

So clear bags are better, in my opinion.

Also, if you need boxes let me know. I can talk to the warehouse staff here and have them put stuff aside for you guys.
abmann From: abmann Date: November 5th, 2009 06:01 pm (UTC) (Link)
Thanks but I think we have boxes covered. We bought plastic storage bins 6 years ago for various college moves and the move to Madison. We've been using them ever since and should have just enough for our stuff.

clear bags = good idea.

We could do a photoshoot of girls wearing bacon. We just need girls, and lots of bacon.
