Where My Feet Take Me
Above and On Top
Above and Atop

I'm recapturing and reinvigorating my photographic style. Trying to find some edge. Lately I"ve been more traditional than I'm really comfortable with.. I think due to weddings and subject. Enough of that, man. Give me wacked colors, harsh vignettes and oversaturated colors.

I've been irritable today. For a number of reasons.
Feeling calm at home now. Editing photos is meditation.

Editing photos is meditation.

I feel the same way - whether I'm editing photos or making icons. THe process is meditative and soothing.

Re: Editing photos is meditation.

How long does an average icon take you?

Re: Editing photos is meditation.

It really depends on the source image - obviously some require much more magic than others to get them just right - some require some damn fine zoomed detail work. I would say an easy icon can take about a minute. The longest I've ever spent is maybe 15 minutes. So that would make an average of about 7 minutes. A more accurate answer would be a median icon time of about 3 to 4 minutes.

Here I thought you were going to say hours! Silly me.

Re: Editing photos is meditation.

Nah, making pictures small is relatively easy work. I have a nice Photoshop template set up with dozens and dozens of layers of my custom filters and textures and whatnot so all I have to do is pop in the source and tweek for a couple minutes until I'm happy.

Partly via the Melancholytron and partly there numerous adjustment layers and changes in Photoshop and Aperture.

Do you have Photoshop? I can show you some of the stuff I do some time.

I don't actually, but I have Gimp, which has similar abilities. I think. I don't honestly use it much. Picnik is actually my primary photo editing tool, because I bought the full-access version and 95% of the time it does what I want perfectly and with minimal fuss.

i do not like traditional. i LOVE the wacked, oversaturated colors. but the separated-toe shoes FREAK ME OUT.
abmann From: abmann Date: July 10th, 2009 02:11 pm (UTC) (Link)
They were a little odd at first but they are so much better than regular shoes.
