I tell you, I adore the art process. I’m fascinated watching painters create – how they hold the brush, the furrowed brow, the – uh – apparent frustration of the whole thing?

This is something you don’t get with photography. The process is physics, pushing a button to release a shutter. There’s not much there for human interest specific to the creation of each photo. Unless you really like photos and have a really, really quick eye.

So, doing something like this is exceptionally interesting to me and I hope I have an opportunity to do it again.

Maybe I should start doing time-lapse videos of my at work or some such.

Depending on the type of work that you do, one of the ultimate goals of the photographer is to make the subject forget that they're there.

I know you do this a lot with your street photography, but it's one of the big roadblocks for people who do any kind of portraiture. (Even harder when the subject knows their picture is being taken, as in formal portraiture.)

It's one of the unsung bonuses of my innate wallflower-ness (gregarious introvert-ness?) -- I aim to get those candid shots that people wouldn't dare be "caught" in, because they've forgotten I've got a lens pointed in their direction, 3lbs of 70-200mm glass or no!

Well sure, being discrete is a boon for street. In fact, it is likely a flaw in your work f people notice you that much. It's really hard for portrait photographers too or any studio work really.

You raise a good point, though, studio work has the same sort if process to it I like to watch.

Because 'I'm a photographer' is so much more socially acceptable than 'I'm a voyeur.' (I resemble this remark.)

Are you familiar with the Madison photographer Balthazar?

OMG. Is the video on YouTube yet? I want to blog it hardcore.

That was SO much fun. I think the images of me painting show how much fun it was. I loved being at your place and working. :)

And thank you for ALL the hospitality. Your kind hearts opening their home to me was an experience that will be retold countless times, and may set a new benchmark for how future commissioners treat me. :D

The video is on Flickr. You should be able to blog it from there.

What were you doing in that last shot? You look like you're screaming.

Flickr was saying that all the rights were reserved... :(

Could you change the rights on those?

I wasn't screaming but I was making weird faces when I thought the camera was about to take a shot. It was a challenge!

I just emailed you the code.

Were you logged into your Flickr account? I have allowed other Flickr members to share/post my stuff.

Strangely, yes... I was logged in but when I try to save, the only thing that comes up is that "spaceball.gif" which isn't an image.

Thanks for sending me the photo and everything though! I've finally saved it. :)
