It bugs me enough that i try not to handle things that i know are too expensive for me to replace/that i can't repair.

Reverse that and it is why I'm wondering. People are curious about my iPad and I readily hand it to them before my brain says, "WHAT IF THEY BREAK IT!?!?"

Yeah, I do exactly the same thing. I handed a total stranger my brand-new phone the other day just because they asked the brand. It's nice to have that kind of self- confidence and trust in the people around you though - especially if you can run well and your ipad is in a decent case. Heh.

Excellent point. I can run the average person down now. :)

I'm using the Apple branded case. It kind of sucks and I am casually seeking a replacement that will offer some amount of drop resistance.

I really like iSkin cases: they're not cheap, but I have thrown most of my devices down the stairs in one without any problems. Looks like their ipad model will be out in May.

I was caught between 'yes' and 'only if they ask me to replace it'. I'd feel obligated, in that I'd want to, but if they really insisted that I didn't need to, then I probably wouldn't. I guess it also depends on the item and the person..

It depends on what I broke

If it's a crappy chipped plate, or an ugly white elephant heirloom that they're going to be giving to Goodwill anyway, then no.
If it's a beautiful cocktail glass and they only have a set of four, or an electronic gizmo, or something crucial (like their blender or car) then of course I feel obligated to replace it for pay for it to be fixed.

Heck, I reimburse my co-worker for all the tea I take out of her cupboard!
